Yoga has always been a source of healing for me. In 2017 I was diagnosed with one painful illness after another. First I got diagnosed with endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Next I was diagnosed with 3 bulging discs in my back, a painful neck issue, and carpal tunnel in both wrists. Last but certainly not least, I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis and Gastritis (which not only gave me a lot of pain, but it also meant that I had a hard time being able to eat because it means your stomach is paralyzed and does not digest food like it should.) With all this going on, I didn't know what I should do to make myself feel better but I knew there had to be a better way to tackle all my illnesses without the medicine the doctors were giving me. So, I decided to start a yoga practice because it couldn't hurt right? To my surprise it drastically lowered my pain, with the help of practicing yoga, and a diet change I have been almost completely pain free for the last 3 years!

Yoga has so many aspects about it that helped me with all my illnesses and help my students heal from their ailments as well! We all know that yoga has the stretching aspect which is great for the muscles, the joints, and the spine, when you lengthen your spine your creating the traction in your spine that chiropractors give you when you go see them. What many people may not know about yoga is that it also offers a strengthening aspect as well! When you strengthen your core, that does not just help you achieve abs or a flatter tummy, it also helps to strengthen your back which can relieve back pain and help improve your posture and make your everyday activities much easier and less painful to do! There are also a lot of postures that help to soothe stretch and calm the pelvis helping to relieve pelvis pain, improve fertility, and help the stomach and intestines to do their job of moving and breaking down the food in your tummy, while also giving the tummy a gentle massage! I could go on and on about the benefits of yoga, but the proof is in your own practice! Happy practicing friends!
